Why women quit science

Could not pass over that one without commenting. Back in the days of my sophomore year at BS at UMUC, I wrote a research paper on sexual harassment at the workplace. Was it pre-Lewinski? Ah, never mind. And here I am again: reading the article today, seeing the same words and problems raised.

The reason for that I guess is the prevalence of one group of people over the other in the field. The more women quit the science, the longer this problem will sustain. Am I trying to put the burden on the victims` shoulders? I do not know. The author is completely right saying that there is a way to deal with such things from the very beginning.

A sad article, indeed. Maybe we shall create the series of workshops how to deal with sexual harassment. I guess the problem is a long living one because it stays in disguise and goes on unpunished. So, taking the issue out of the shadow and increasing the number of women in science seem to be some ways we can address the problem. Educating men? Well, certainly.
