First of all, we should be aware of what are the social media. They consist of all kinds online social media forms, like the facebook, Skype, Instagram, LinkedIn, Youtube etc. Just name a few of them. The existence of such media does provide diversified ways for the users to get to know the unknown world in much more convenient way. People gain various information and perspectives on the all kinds of subjects.
Well the use of social media for educational purpose is still a bald move from the perspectives of most scholars and teachers. In their view, large amount of the information on the social media are not confirmed or investigated by serious academic research, which may prove to be wrong or lack of sufficient evidence. Such perspectives may, to some extent, be true, but generally, the social media are under the monitor of authoritative website or governed by the rules or disciplines of online virtual community, which may ensure the authenticity of the information.
One thing should be pointed out about using social media in educational purpose do generate negative influence on the students, particularly those without sufficient cognitive abilities, who would be guided blindly and go astray. As some of the information on social media is not filtrated properly, which may result in the misunderstanding. So the adoption of social media in education should be thoughtfully considered.
