I would love to see uOttawa offer a class that focuses on pedagogical grammar. I had a class on this subject during my undergraduate studies and I found it extremely useful.
I wasn't taught much explicit English grammar in elementary or secondary school and when I started teaching ESL, I found it hard to explain complex grammatical rules to questioning adults. I still do at times. I have heard this sentiment echoed by many other native-English speakers.
It would be great to gain more knowledge about how to best help our students master difficult grammatical issues. For the time being, Azar's "English Grammar" is indispensable...
